What is Chinese Medicine?
Chinese Medicine has been used in China for the past 3000 years. The theory behind Traditional Chinese Medicine, or TCM, follows that your health is directly affected by your surroundings – your lifestyle, emotions, the seasons and environment. Disease occurs when the delicate balance between your body’s internal energy and the external forces of your surroundings is out of harmony. With TCM, we treat and prevent disease by readjusting the body’s energy and restoring this balance.
Chinese herbs, like acupuncture, are an important part of TCM. An herbal formula is a collection of different herbs which are boiled together and taken as a tea. These teas have a direct effect on the energy and fluids in the body. They can be used not only to balance what is already there, but also to build up what is low. |
